There was a tidy €1,600 on offer as the final of the Unanimouspanther N2/N3 525 took centre stage at Clonmel Greyhound Stadium on Friday night and Dangan Cara completed a clean sweep as she justified her even money pricetag.
Trained by Adam Dunford for Michael and Carmel Croke, Dunford Cara had been a standout performer in the earlier rounds as she amassed a near twelve length winning aggregate over her rivals, while posting a 28.94 best in the process. As a result, she was understandably installed as the even money favourite and although asked plenty of questions on this occasion, she sealed a hat-trick of wins to remain unbeaten.
Running from trap three, Dangan Cara broke well from her middle berth but was headed in the early stages as Teddie pinged the lids from four to dispute. The inside line proved crucial however as ‘Cara’ tracked well before bustling her way through at the opener at the expense of Teddie. Holding a two length advantage into the back, the daughter of Confident Rankin and Ardera Love was setting a smart gallop but it was Teddie that upped the ante once again to challenge upon entrance to the penultimate turn. However, the door was yet again slammed shut at this point as Dangan Cara tracked like a veteran to go clear and this was to prove decisive despite a determined Teddie coming back for more. A thrilling finish was to ensue as Teddie battled hard on the run for home, however, Dangan Cara was nothing if not game in holding on to win by a half length. The time was 28.88.
ITS MY WORLD SERIOUSLY IMPRESSIVE
On the supporting card, there was one performance of real note as Its My World landed his A5 contest in spectacular fashion for owner Thomas Keane.
A heavyweight 81-pounder, Its My World has just recently turned two-years-of-age and had only tasted success on one occasion prior, that being a modest 29.51 win around the Suirside venue. Sent to traps this time around at red-hot odds of 4/6, the son of Pat C Sabbath and Slaneyside Rhona produced an outstanding display to improve over a second and ensure he will be competing in Open class company for the foreseeable future. Indeed, it was Step Junior that set the early pace as he pinged from trap two to clock a 2.82 sectional. He continued to lead until the sprint boxes but Its My World quickly stormed past his rival at this point and immediately drew clear. Powering around the bottom turns, this was a hugely impressive performance as Its My World flew up the home straight to stop the clock in a brilliant 28.49.
