OLWYN TAKES OFF AT KILKENNY

Ian Fortune

Ballybough Olwyn posted a superb 28.94 to go lengths faster than the next fastest heat winner in the opening round of the Boylesports A3 Bitch 525. In fact, the nearest to her in terms of the clock was Long Senorita, who finished three lengths behind Ballybough Olwyn in Heat 2.

Long Senorita actually set a strong gallop, flashing from trap four to dictate the pace in the early yards but Ballybough Olwyn was too close in second. Charging into the third turn, the Murt Leahy trained daughter of Droopys Sydney eased on to the third turn before emerging a comfortable three length winner.

BELLA BOUNCES OUT TO DOMINATE

There was very little separating the two next fastest heat winners.

Monroe Bella set a strong gallop from the outset in the opening heat. Owned and trained by James Frisby, she went on to cross the line two lengths clear of Rossacastlequeenin 29.42.

CLAUDIA MARGINALLY FASTER THAN BELLA

Long Claudia was one spot faster in the final heat.

Brian Doyle’s daughter of Dorotas Wildcat led from the opening turn to get the better of Karlow Belle by a length in 29.41.

LIZ RALLIES TO THE CAUSE

The remaining heat saw Comer Liz rally in the closing yards to see off Flaminhasntabob.

After going up fast, she was headed on the turn before staying on well to lead in the latter stages for a half length verdict in 29.62.
