A NIGHT OF BIG RUNS IN THE KINGDOM

    Barry Drake

BALLYMAC DAVE (Doolin Duke-Ballymac Pebbles) went quickest on the clock in the opening round of the €11,000 to the winner T Nolan C.V.R.T Centre Juvenile Classic at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium on Friday night.

It was a great night for the Dowling kennels - a magnificent treble in the opening round.

Liam Dowling’s August puppy, a 4-1 shot in the betting market, displayed plenty of early gears to slip around in front and from there, he was always looking good. Catching the eye throughout, the exciting young prospect stopped the clock, in 28.26, a length and a half clear of Ballinabola Joe.

    MESSY ENOUGH CONTEST

In the following heat, Ballymac Tibet (Ballymac Best-Ballymac Minton) scored in 28.98.

It was a messy enough contest, however, the strong running winner came from a long ways back to land the spoils. Owner by the Metinthehalfway Syndicate, the August puppy, a 2-1 shot, ran on strongly to beat Flashing Fender, by half a length.

    MIX THROUGHOUT

It was three after Ballymac Nash (Ballymac Kingdom-Ballymac Cameo) impressed when winning the closing heat.

The April puppy, a 7-2 shot, was in the mix throughout and the treble winner kept finding late on. A 28.69 winning run, a length and a half clear of Blackstone Harvey.

    IMPRESSED

In heat six, Droopys Trade (Droopys Sydney-Droopys Alice) impressed when winning for trainer John Linehan and owners the Three Tall Men Syndicate.

The July puppy, an even money favourite, took control early and the bright prospect displayed bundles of speed up front. A superb display clocking 28.28, five and a half lengths clear of Amazing Zeus.

    TOP CLASS PERFORMANCE

Sole Milo (Coolavanny Hoffa-Palmero), trained by Peter Cronin for Aidan Comerford, was another to deliver a top class performance.

The 4-6 back straight was always in control, flying down the back straight, the June puppy got the better of Kournikova, by a length and a half, in 28.28.

    PLENTY OF SPEED

In the opening heat, Jacktavern Racer (Dorotas Wildcat-Limini) scored for trainer David Byrne and owners the Jacktavern Syndicate.

Tracking well around the opening turns, the 6-4 shot showed plenty of speed to beat Flashing Lilac, by three quarters of a length, in 28.57.
