Droopys Melon has often shown ability but wins have been elusive for the talented daughter of Droopys Sydney and Droopys Fia.
That wasn’t the case on Friday, however, as she produced a massive run at Kilkenny to set the standard in the opening round of the BOYLE Sports A3 Bitch 525.
Not only did she win Heat 2 by a wide margin but her 29.13 (.40 slow) return in very slow conditions was almost eight lengths faster than the next fastest heat winner. The Murt Leahy trained bitch charged into th turn from a wide draw to go to the front.
Once doing so, it was all one-way traffic. Droopys Melon, owned by the Punch Drunk Four Syndicate, eventually crossed the line twelve and a half lengths clear of Oakvale Eruption. Burgess Ronnie was third.
MAGES COMES OUT ON TOP
Droopys Mags rode a bump on the corner in the second heat to initiate a double for Murt Leahy, which would later be completed by the aforementioned Droopys Melon.
Droopys Mags led throughout to emerge a length and a half scorer over Whitegate Pest in 29.88 (.40 slow). Volcano Vicky was the same distance away third.
MODEL A PROMISING TYPE
The lightly raced Marble Model was the second fastest heat winner.
Shem O’Donnell’s daughter of Ballymac Cashout and Role Model was having just her second start but she made light work of her task, making all to come home five lengths clear of Bee Inmy Bonnet in 29.66 (.40 slow). Ace Princess was third.
PARIS LEAVES IT LATE
The final heat was run in the worst of the conditions and it went the way of Lemon Paris as she came from well off the pace to lead late for Tom Lennon.
The daughter of Grangeview Ten and Lemon Aubrey got up to beat the Other Leona and Jennie On Faya by a head and a length and a half in 30.59.
