BOGGER DOUBLE AS AOIFE GOES QUICKEST AT THURLES

There were a number of smart performances at Thurles Park last night and it proved a fruitful night for Liam Peacock as Bogger Maria and Bogger Hunter secured a double for the in-form handler.

The first of the ‘Boggers’ to cross the line in front was Bogger Maria in race seven as she made it four career wins with a strong running display. Running from trap five, the daughter of Cloran Paddy and Bogger Ophelia trapped well from the outside to sit second early on behind the early pace-maker, On Stage Poppy. Taking charge entering the penultimate turn, Bogger Maria pressed home her advantage in the closing stages and she crossed the line with two lengths to spare over On Stage Poppy in second. The time for the 2/1 chance was 29.17 .20s.

The double was completed in the final race on the card as the promising Bogger Hunter ran to a comfortable victory to build on his Shelbourne Park debut win last time out. Only a September puppy, Bogger Hunter broke smartly from trap five and he quickly turned this A3 contest into a procession. Drawing clear throughout, the son of Skywalker Farloe and Bottle Of Banter proved different gravy to the opposition as he crossed the line with over nine lengths to spare, in a rapid 28.94 .20s.

BORNA QUICKEST OF THE SESSION

The fastest time of the session came in race five as Borna Aoife justified an even money price tag to make it three wins on the trot.

Owned by Michelle Dwan, Borna Aoife had come from off the pace in each of her last two victories and she was to deploy similar tactics this time around also. Quickly away from trap one, the daughter of Droopys Jet and Borna Central sat second early on, however, she took charge midway down the back to outpace her rivals thereafter. Staying on with real gusty in the closing stages, Borna Aoife was relentless in running out a six length winner over Private Jet in second. The time was a slick 28.90 .20s.

CILL DUBH DIPS UNDER

The 29-second barrier was broken again in estimated terms in race four as Cill Dubh Hope won with ease.

A 3/1 chance at the off, Cill Dubh Hope was bidding for a fifth career win and despite facing stiff opposition from Killenaulespirit, she stayed on strongly in the closing stages to claim victory. Running from four, the Michael Bergin-owned black led early and she never looked back as she drew clear with fifty yards remaining to record a comfortable five length victory. The time was a fast 29.07 .20s.
