HOLLAND TREBLE THE HIGHLIGHT AT CLONMEL

Clonmel hosted a ten race card last night and it was Graham Holland who recorded another treble at the Suirside venue as Newinn Mover, Chubbys Best and Rathcoole Poppy all landed their respective contests.

The first of the Graham Holland-trained runners to pass the post in front was Newinn Mover as he landed an ON2/3 525 in supreme style. Owned by the Parachute-Syndicate, Newinn Mover had undergone a fine qualifying campaign and he wasted no time in building on that with a comfortable debut for connections. An August 20’ son of Laughil Blake and Proud Prize, Newinn Mover trapped smartly from three and once doing so, it was clear from an early stage that this was to be all one-way traffic. Setting a terrific gallop throughout, Newinn Mover showed bundles of potential as he raced to a five and a half length success over Moanteen Spirit in second. The time was 28.87.

In the penultimate race of the night, Chubbys Best came from off-the-pace to record a seventh career win. Owned by the Tellytubby-Syndicate, Chubbys Best has some incredible form in his book but he is perhaps more renowned for his early paced exploits. However, after being forced to nestle in behind Warrenstown Boy for the majority of the contest, the son of Ballymac Best and String Of Pearls hit the front late on to score by a neck from Warrenstown Boy in second. The time was 28.87.

The treble was completed in the final race of the night as Rathcoole Poppy recorded her second win from her last three starts. Owned again by the Parachute-Syndicate, who scored with Newinn Mover earlier, Rathcoole Poppy took charge early on as she popped away nicely from trap three. Maintaining a strong gallop thereafter, the daughter of Ballymac Best and Ballydoyle Grace held off the fast finish of Wizard to cross the line with two lengths to spare. The time was 28.89.

LINFORD QUICKEST IN SORLEY O’DORNAN OPENER

Elsewhere on the card, there were four opening round heats of the Sorley O’Dornan Memorial A5/A6 525 and it was Moanteen Linford who set a pretty high bar.

Trained by Rachel Wheeler for Edward Harries, the October 20’ puppy was stepping out four just his third career start and he turned it into a procession victory. Running from trap six, Moanteen Linford broke smartly and he rounded the opening corner with a two length lead over his rivals. Setting a swift gallop down the back, the son of Droopys Buick and Moanteen Ellie really started to motor around the bottom two bends and henwas over eight lengths clear of Rathin Misty crossing the winning line. The time was 28.86.
