National Puppy Stake winner and Con & Annie Kirby Memorial finalist Scooby Prince journeyed to the UK this morning with a view to challenging for more major honours in the Star Sports/ TRC English Derby.

His breeder and trainer, Jennifer O’Donnell confirmed the powerful son of Droopys Sydney is to join Patrick Janssens for a crack at the classic. Said Jennifer, “He went over this morning and is joining Patrick [Janssens]. The plan is a crack at the English Derby and then back to us later in the summer for the Irish Derby.

“He’s not a fan of crowds and the fact that Towcester track is that bit further away from the stands should suit. He also looks likely to be suited to the track. We just hope he settles in Patrick’s. If he does he can certainly run well in the Derby.”
