SPARKLING SPRINT PERFORMANCE BY JADED

Despite having just the four starts under his belt, the Michael O’Donovan-trained Jaded has quickly developed into a very talented sprinter and his power was on full show last night as he blew his rivals away in the Greyhound & Petworld Open 350.
Jointly owned by Jordan Moynihan and Michael Walsh, Jaded had some super qualifying trials in his book before clocking a swift 17.51 on debut at Tralee. The May 20’ whelp received a troublesome passage next time out at HQ but he put things right with a smart performance on his last outing with a brilliant 18.89 around Limerick. That, however, was just a taster of what was to follow as the son of Droopys Sydney and Jacinta simply blew his rivals away in devastating fashion last night. Running from trap one, Jaded quickly took control of proceedings from the inside and the 1/2 chance displayed sizzling acceleration into the opening corner to already hold a sizable advantage. From here, it was all one-way traffic for Jaded as he drew clear up the home straight to seal a six and a half length over Confused Fitzy in second. The time was a blistering 18.57.
BURCHCHURCH SEALS O’DONOVAN DOUBLE
Michael O’Donovan was also responsible for sending out Burnchurch Best to land a very good Open 750 contest in race ten. An understandable 2/5 chance given her exploits over the four-bend trip, Michael Cullen’s bitch took charge at the opener and she never looked back thereafter in securing a comprehensive victory. Hazelhill Hazard chased gallantly in second, however, Burnchurch Best proved four lengths too strong for her rivals, in a swift time of 41.78.
MEDUZA BACK TO HER BEST
There was another standout performance in race eight as Meduza bounced back to winning ways for joint owners John Meelam and Sean Ryan.
Chasing an eleventh career victory, the John Byrne-trained talent went to traps a 2/1 shot and she quickly made her presence felt with a ping break from trap three. A very talented sort when on the bunny, the daughter of Good News and Jaytee Osprey set a scorching gallop thereafter and she emerged a comfortable four length winner over Tromora Rocket in second. The time was a terrific 29.62 for the 550-yard trip.
MEELAM & BYRNE DOUBLE
Shortly after the performance of Meduza, Courty Girl secured a double for John Meelam and John Byrne as she landed the concluding race of the night in devastating fashion. Another who relishes being on the hare, the classy daughter of Laughil Blake and Killaheen Queen went off a 5/1 shot but she breezed to the front midway down the back to put her rivals to the sword. Showing big pace throughout, Courty Girl crossed the line with three lengths in hand over Drombeg Khalesi in a fantastic time of 28.56.
IN OTHER RACES
In the opening race of the night, Eleven Pennies sealed a first career win for joint owners Sean Stack and Dan Flynn. A massive eighty-six pounder, Eleven Pennies took control early from trap one and the 6/4 shot displayed brilliant power to cross the line with four lengths over Drumgeely Avenue in second. The time for the son of Magical Bale was a swift 18.91.
There was to be a shock on the cards in race two as Dunquin Katrina crossed over at odds of 4/1. Owned by Michael Walsh, the October 20’ whelp was seeking a first career win but she came away racing from trap five to quickly assert. Stretching clear down the back, the daughter of Droopys Sydney and Dunquin Anna was six lengths too good for Hidden Fontane at the winning line as the clock returned a brisk 28.72.
Ballygibba Moat brought his career tally up to the half dozen mark in race four as Billy Guiney’s charge won comfortably at odds of 3/1. Well away from trap two, Ballygibba Moat took charge off the second turn and he maintained a strong gallop thereafter to claim a one and a half length victory over Adamant Phoenix in second. The time was 28.77.
