JACKTAVERN BOLT SETS THE STANDARD IN ROUND 2 OF THE KASKO DERBY

Barry Drake

Trained by Graham Holland for the Pillar Syndicate, Jacktavern Bolt set the standard in round two of the A1 Kasko Derby at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.

In front before the opening corner, it turned into a one-dog event as the 5-4 winner won with plenty to spare. A superb performance, clocking 28.42 and coming home with five lengths to spare over Da Gonzo.
Burgess Bolger was another to impress as the in-form tracker recorded back-to-back wins for Sheila Spillane and JJ Fennelly. Making the most of the rails pitch, the 5-2 shot impressed with a strong 28.47 winning display. Three lengths back to Bartlemy Droopy who ran a fine race back in second.
Commons Rebel returned to winning ways for trainer John Kiely and owner Jack Crowley. Only four went to traps and it was all about the 2-5 market leader. In control throughout, the classy performer beat the fast finishing Strike It Alice, by a length and a half, in 28.55.
Deelser Bells put on a gutsy performance to make it two straight wins for Paul Keniry. The 2-1 shot had to pull out all the stops in the second half of the race and she beat Dashgrove Bolger, by a neck, in 28.84.
Samba Bailey left last week's form well behind with a stunning front running display for Michael Cahill. The 7-2 winner showed impressive early dash and she stuck to her task well in the closing stages to win, in 28.66, two and a half lengths clear of Medelson who was back in second.
Peroni Eoiny set the standard last week and the Kieran Lynch trained runner ran out a smart winner when clocking 28.60 for the Peroni Syndicate. The 4-6 marker leader was in control throughout and he kept on well to beat Ferryforth Donny, by two lengths, in 28.60.
