The semi of the Mustang Jet @ Stud ON1 Bitch 525 saw a couple of very well-bred youngsters take their first steps towards stardom at Shelbourne Park on Thursday evening.
Both heats were won in superb fashion with Cute Intention setting the tone only for Fashion Model to take the headlines with a stunning run fifteen minutes later.
A STUNNING MODEL
The supremely bred daughter of Derby champion Good News and former English Derby finalist Coolavanny Chick was nothing short of spectacular.
Last to the turn behind some very talented types, she simply took off from the second turn.
Lincoln Legacy, who had qualified in 28.38 a week earlier, set a strong gallop at the head of affairs but she was pressed by the promising duo of Mustang Fever and Scooby Countess. It seemed absolutely certain the winner would come from the first three but Fashion Model had other ideas.
Charging into the third turn to sit a much closer fourth than seemed possible, she got a lovely run around the third and fourth bends as Mustang Fever and Scooby Countess stayed to the middle of the track.
By now Lincoln Legacy was starting to show signs of fatigue up front, something that certainly couldn’t be said for Paul Horig and Stephan Bourke’s Fashion Model. Finishing with real purpose and power, she moved second passing the 550yds boxes before pouncing late for an incredible length victory over Lincoln Legacy in 28.52. Scooby Countess was another length adrift in third.
It’s no exaggeration to suggest any of the first four home could develop into a star but the winner has the potential to be very special and she is one to keep on your radar.
THE RIGHT INETENTIONS
Cute Intention was a superb winner of the opening heat, bursting her way to the front on the corner before quickly racing right away from her rivals to put the result beyond any doubt by halfway.
Ballymac Newline flashed from the outside box to lead early but Cute Intention flew up her inner at the bend and shot clear.
Trained by Robert Gleeson for Keith Duffy and Niamh McNamee, the daughter of Droopys Sydney and Zola Princess emerged a facile winner over the staying on duo of Mustang Frankie and Matts Lass. The winning distances were five and a half lengths and two lengths with the winner clocking a very useful 28.65.
