The €5,000 to the winner John Fitzgerald Memorial Mini Open Bitch Stake has produced several top-class performances over the last week or so.
It was pretty much as predicted on Saturday night with both Clogheen Lass and Quivers Magic getting the job done.
OPENING HEAT
Clogheen Lass was the first to oblige as the 1-2 favourite landed the opening heat for trainer Graham Holland and owners the Farran-And-Away-Syndicate.
In a great early battle with Mysterious Luna, Clogheen Lass began to gain the upper hand between the final corners and she pulled away for another great win, clocking 28.36. Mysterious Luna was two lengths back in second, with a further five lengths back to Burgess Annie in third place.
MUCH CLOSER AFFAIR
It was a much closer affair in the second heat, however, it was recent Irish Oaks finalist Quivers Magic who came out in front for trainer Adam Dunford and owners PJ and Charles Surgue.
Midfield early on, the 1-2 favourite always looked dangerous and she made her move at the second last corner. Hitting the front from Carrigoon Mia, she just had enough in reserve to fend off the strong late run of Footfield Siren. A head the margin, in 28.41, with three lengths back to the early paced Carrigoon Mia.
