ROXY THE STAR AT ENNISCORTHY

Her task may have been made somewhat easier by the absence of the exciting Proper Heiress after he was sold following his superb semi-final victory, but Unanimous Roxy couldn’t have been any more impressive in the final of the Kiltrea Kennels Open Unraced, posting a stunning 28.58 on her way to a wide margin success.

Trainer Pat Buckley was certainly happy with the result as he sent out the first and second home. This was all about Unanimous Roxy, however. Ciaran O’Sullivan’s daughter of Ballymac Cashout and Mystical Luna was sent to traps the 4-5 favourite and it was soon evident she was in the perfect position to strike.

Breaking smartly, she quickly moved to the front on the fence and had an advantage of a length over Hopes Kitty on the turn. By the time they entered the back straight, the gap was three lengths and Unanimous Roxy really poured it on from there.

By the time they hit the third turn, Unanimous Roxy was almost five lengths clear and she continued to ease away from the chasers to eventually win by eight and a half lengths. Hopes Kitty was second with the reserve Zenith Angel staying on to grab third, a length adrift.

It was a tremendous run by the winner and one that hints at a big future. At her current rate of progression, she is clearly one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks and months. Certainly, there is no knowing how good she could be in the future.
