DUKE A TIMELY WINNER FOR MARTIN

DUKE A TIMELY WINNER FOR MARTIN

Ian Fortune

When scanning over the results from the weekend, outside of the Derby, the display of Woodcliff Duke at Dundalk On Friday night was up there with one of the best for more than one reason.

It’s no secret that Martin Lanney has been a bit under the weather in recent weeks, but he would have been really buoyed by the display of his talented youngster.

The son of Ballymac Cashout and Sweet Pear was electric into the bend, building a clear advantage before going on to see off his kennel companion Valderrama as he clocked a sensational 20.91 in an Open 400.

Lanney would have been further buoyed by the last grasp success of his beloved Liverpool over Arsenal on Sunday afternoon but the less said about that the better. We wish Martin a speedy recover and look forward to catching up with him after Liverpool throw away the league title in the coming months.
