There was much to like about the display of Lemon Hidalgo as he captured the Georgie Leahy Memorial A3 at Kilkenny on Friday night.
The €1,500 to the winner final looked a competitive affair and that was certainly the case to the corner but Bull Run Beast led them around the corner.
Tom Lennon’s Lemon Hidalgo missed the start a beat from four but he displayed fine early speed to barge his way through the pack to turn a close second. Carrying real momentum into the back straight, the son of Ballymac Best and Lemon Ariana charged to the front at halfway before quickly asserting at the head of affairs. He would eventually go on to win by five lengths from Bull Run Beast in 29.23.
BEN BOUNCES OUT
Earlier on the card, the Shaun Conway trained Noirs Ben landed the final of the IRGT A2 525.
Owned by the Ponies Tio Pups Syndicate, the son of Good News and Noirs Lottie broke smartly from the inside box to lead into the back straight. He would go on to score by four lengths from Comer Rover in 29.26.
