NEW BARKING BUZZ WORTH THE WAIT

NEW BARKING BUZZ WORTH THE WAIT

Ian Fortune

In recent years, the Barking Buzz app has been a friend to so many.

It has afforded greyhound racing enthusiasts, owners, trainers, breeders and punters the opportunity to watch live racing throughout the country, have a bet or just stay in touch when you couldn’t make the track.

Of course, there were times when it was a touch frustrating especially at time when put under severe pressure on busy weekends but today marks the start of a new era. The all-new Barking Buzz app has gone live and it really was worth the wait.

A SNEAK PEEK

This scribe was lucky enough to get a peek at the new app and by all accounts it is a huge upgrade on what came before.

It’s much like a new iPhone 16 compared to a Nokia from 1999. While the latter certainly did the job, the much newer model has all the bells and whistles and offers a far more pleasant experience.

Last Friday’s press release announcing the new app began: “Barking Buzz Launches Next Generation Platform with Enhanced Features and Improved User Experience”

It went on, “This major upgrade brings a host of new features, visual enhancements, and data-driven tools designed to provide a faster, smarter, and more intuitive user experience across all devices.”

This is all true but in layman’s terms it basically means it looks better, is far easier to use and will be more reliable. Those behind the development of the new Barking Buzz have also rid the app of some of the more frustrating and unnecessary steps.

Simple changes like race numbers rather than race times, the ability to change settings to suit your needs and the wonderful new addition of being able to stream more than one track at a time if viewing on a laptop.

Indeed, the new Barking Buzz is a major upgrade and should make the whole experience a far more pleasant experience. Of course, with any major overhaul, there may be early teething problems but it is a welcome addition to Irish greyhound racing and one that could make a difference to so many. Well done to all involved.
