NO LUCK FOR FREYA AS NED LANDS SELECT STAKES

Silverhill Freya carried no luck at Nottingham on Monday night as she attempted to become the third Irish winner of the ARC Select Stakes in three years.

Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be as she found early traffic problems to finish at the tail of the field for Graham Holland.

Instead, the Jimmy Fenwick trained Wicky Ned, who had been an intended runner in the BOYLE Sports Derby until a late setback claimed yet another big prize. Getting loose into the turn, he would run with real purpose throughout to contain the staying on English Derby champion Droopys Plunge.

At the line, Wicky Ned would have three lengths in hand on the Derby champ in 29.22. Chelms Bear was a length and a half further adrift in third.
