SIRIUS ALPHA, trained by Kieran Lynch for the Sirius Syndicate, came out on top in the final of the €6,000 to the winner A1 Kasko Derbby Final at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.

The 5-4 market leader had impressed in recent weeks and this was another superb display. Winning the all-important early lead, the classy performer was in control running down the back straight, however, he was forced to pull out all the stops in the closing stages, holding the fast-finishing Hand Crafted, by half a length, in 28.36. A most deserving winner of the feature final.

The opening round of the Galloping Kennels A3 Stake produced some great racing on the night. Jerrivee De Meg, trained by Paul Hennessy for Brendan Cocoman and Ian Cunningham, went quickest on the clock when winning in 28.55. A fine performance from the 4-5 favourite.

Bockos Diamond clocked 28.23 in a trial before racing in preparation for next weekend’s opening round of the Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby.
