CON HAS A REAL PROSPECT IN SUNSHINE

Ian Fortune

Con Guiney seems to have unearthed another potential star in the form of Walkinonsunshine.

A half brother to Coolavanny Hoffa, he was the undoubted star in the opening round of the Mickey O’Sullivan Memorial ON2 at Kilkenny on Friday night, posting a rapid 28.75 on debut.

The son of Broadstrand Bono and Coolavanny Ella didn’t even dictate in the early yards. Instead Dance Ada took them along but Walkinonsunshine recovered from an early bump to turn a close second.

Moving with real purpose down the back straight, the June ’21 whelp took over long before halfway before easing on to score by four and a half lengths. Posting 16.81 to the third turn, he entered many notebooks.

As impressive as the run was, he did give the impression he would go even faster in the near future. There seems no doubt he is a very talented young greyhound with unlimited potential. We look forward to seeing him return to the track.

For the record, the remaining heats went to Jack Walsh’s Mysterious Mason, who ran out a comfortable winner of the final heat in 29.37, while Niall Foley’s Zaconey Apollo led throughout to win the remaining heat in 29.50.
