ANOTHER PERFECTO DISPLAY IN MIDLANDS DERBY

ANOTHER PERFECTO DISPLAY IN MIDLANDS DERBY

Ian Fortune

Planet Perfecto was again the star of proceedings at Mullingar as he followed up his brilliant fastest of the opening round display with another foot-perfect performance to set the standard in Saturday’s second round.

A seven length winner in 30.92 the previous week, David and Paul Hanlon’s charge went even faster this week. Dominating from the start, the son of Droopys Cain and Ruby Valley entered the back straight with three lengths in hand on Willseeyouthere before pulling further and further clear in the second half of the contest.

At the line, Planet Perfecto had eight lengths in hand on Willseeyouthere in a rapid 30.62. Crokers Prince was a further two and a half lengths adrift in third. The winners time was just over two and a half lengths off the 550yd track record, confirming that he is going to take some stopping in the competition.

SILVER WINS AGAIN

Honour of gong next fastest fell to Bective Silver in the final heat.

Joe Quirke’s in-form daughter of Top Savings and Bective Stella was prominent into the corner but was second behind Fahy Devine into the back straight.

The latter continued to dictate to the final turn at which point she steered a very wide path. This left Bective Silver with the room to take over. Staying on well, she emerged a two length winner over Fahy Devine in 30.95 with Manalishi Blitz the third qualifier a further two lengths back.

LUIGI HOLDS ON

Home Luigi provided Marcelle Campbell with a good winner in the opening heat.

Taking control into the turn, the son of Over Limit and Home Destiny was under threat as the pack began to close around the final two bends but he dug in on the run in to contain the big finish if Sanitize by a half length in 31.07. Bawn Farloe was just a neck away in third.

ROXY ALWAYS IN CHARGE

A fast start was the key to success for Kevin Jones’ Lingrawn Roxy in Heat 3.

The daughter of Good News and Lingrawn Suzy was never headed as she emerged a comfortable length and a half scorer over the staying on Rorys Sabs in 31.19.
