BIG PERFORMANCE FROM MYSTICAL JOSIE ON DEBUT

It was a relatively quiet affair at Limerick Greyhound Stadium last night as they played host to an all-graded twelve race program and it was Mystical Josie who caught the eye with a brilliant performance on debut.

Owned by Jody & Eoin Troy, who incidentally sent out Mystical Max to win impressively on debut at Galway on Friday night, Mystical Josie is a full sister and she could hardly have been more eye-catching in last night’s opener at Limerick. A daughter of Droopys Jet and Mystical Moll, ‘Josie’ came into the event with a qualifying best of 29.96 but she was to shave well over a second off that time with a fourteen length victory for connections. Running from trap three, Troy’s charge took control from the outset and she proceeded to draw clear of her rivals and justify her 5/4 starting price. A fourteen length winner over Joeys Champ in second, the time was a blistering 28.67.

LUCY FASTEST OF THE NIGHT

The fastest performer of the night came in race eleven as Annagh Lucy recorded back-to-back wins for Dan Stockpoole and Rachel Wheeler.

A very talented lady at her best, Annagh Lucy broke in front from trap one and she showed brilliant early speed into the opening bend to take a two length lead into the back straight. From here, the daughter of Droopys Sydney and Moanteen Beauty set a fine gallop and although challenged late on by the fast-finishing Tyrap Luke, she was a head better off crossing the line. A 2/1 chance in the market, the time for Annagh Lucy was a slick 28.65.

IN OTHER RACES

In race five, Diego Rango justified his 4/5 starting price with a runaway win for Paul Ryan. A February son of Droopys Jet and Diego Ruby, Diego Rango was seeking a first career win but he set about doing so in good style after a fast break from trap six. In control throughout, this was a very impressive performance from Ryan’s charge as he maintained a relentless gallop to come home six and a half length clear of Victorious Girl in second. The time was 28.74.

Bling Bling Paul has been a terrific servant to John Meehan and he recorded a ninth career win in a D3/D4 750 in race seven. A very good stayer, Bling Bling Paul broke in front and held a very healthy advantage entering the home straight the first time around. Maintaining a strong gallop thereafter, the son of Sh Avatar and Killinan Reina was never under threat as he stayed on well to score by three lengths crossing the line. The time was 42.36.

Miss Sloane was next to impress in race eight as she recorded a second career win for the Pockets-Syndicate. Trained by Brian Nolan, Miss Sloane broke smartly wearing the red jacket and she was to prove a class above her rivals in coming home a convincing winner. Nine lengths clear of Ryves Nelson in second, the daughter of Laughil Blake and WIllowdale Diva posted a smart clock of 28.95.

Blacklabel Walt also dipped under the 29-second barrier in race ten. Owned by Saturday-Soaks-Syndicate and trained by Jerry Griffin, Blacklabel Walt was installed a 2/1 chance and he is another who made every post a winner. Breaking well from trap five, the son of Droopys Buick and La Linea set a smart gallop throughout to come home with three lengths to spare over Midfield Deano in second. The time was 28.90.
