Damien Matthews yesterday confirmed that the hugely talented and very exciting Anonymous will be known as Savana Hero in the future after a half share was sold to Towcester supremo Kevin Boothby.
Of course, Boothy would have seen the son of Droopys Sydney and Folleys View in action at the Northhamptonshire venue in December.
Very lightly raced ahead of his journey to the UK for the RPGTV English Puppy Derby, he crashed out of the competition in the opening round after stumbling at boxes. He returned a week later to post a brilliant 29.27 in a trial stake for the Blue Riband, going considerably faster than the three semi-final winners in the Puppy Derby.
That was his last appearance but it’s clear he handles Towcester and the English Derby will be his ultimate aim. Damien Matthews said of dog, “He’s a really exciting home bred. Obviously, he produced a massive run in just his second start around Towcester. He’s very lightly raced and, hopefully, there’s plenty of improvement to come.
“It’s a thrill to have one like him and we can look forward to the Kirby Memorial and the English Derby with him. Kevin [Boothby] has supported our kennel, buying a few dogs over the past year, and we’ve always thrown our support behind the track.
“We’re delighted to be in partnership with Kevin and hopefully the dog can fulfil his potential. He will run as Savana Hero, with Brendan [Mathews] remaining a half owner alongside Kevin.”
With just four races under his belt, Anonymous, or Savana Hero, as he will be known, has shown enough to suggest he could be a major player in the big competitions in 2022. As a reminder of his talents, click the following link to see his latest and most impressive run to date:
