Noel Hehir confirmed this morning that Coolavanny Shado, who was so impressive in the opening round of the Greyhound & Petworld Juvenile Classic at Tralee has had his final start on Irish soil for the foreseeable future.
2021 English Derby winning handler Patrick Janssens has stepped into purchase the exceptionally well-bred son of Droopys Sydney and Yahoo Perlena for a syndicate of his existing owners. The June ’20 whelp, who recorded a brilliant 28.28 in the opening round, will be a non-runner on Friday as he will be journeying across the pond next week.
Said Noel of the sale, “If ever I was going to keep one, it was Shado, but I’m a seller and, after thinking long and hard about it over the weekend, I decided to sell to Patrick [Janssens]. Obviously, I’ve sold to him before and he’s bought a good one in this fella.
“He has brilliant early gears and looks the real deal. He’ll travel over next week and I’ll wish the new owners and Patrick the very best of luck.”
Noel will be kept busy in the meantime, however. He confirmed that his superstar tracker Coolavanny Chick was about to have her second litter. Said Noel, “Chick is due any day. She’s heavy in pup to Good News so we’ll be keeping a close eye.”
I’m sure there are plenty of potential buyers that will be keeping up to date with how many Coolavanny Chick throws. It isn’t her first litter, however. Noel confirmed that she already has a twelve-month-old litter by Laughil Blake and says they are ‘smashing lookers’.
Given their pedigree, it seems likely they will be more than just smashing lookers in the future. Noel will be hoping he can unearth one as fast as Coolavanny Shado. Watch this space.
