LISDALEEN RANGE LANDS THURLES 570 FEATURE

There was a nice prize pot of €1,500 up for grabs at Thurles Greyhound Stadium last night as the final of the Thurles Racecourse A4 570 reached its conclusion and Lisdaleen Range (Out Of Range - Boherna Sophie) went one better than his narrow defeat last time out to score.

After proving a very competitive stake throughout, there was very little separating all six finalists in the decider as Lisdaleen Range was sent off the 2/1 joint favourite along with Code Rubble and it was 3/1 bar the remainder of the field. In truth, Lisdaleen Range looked to have cooked his goose early doors after being crowded out from trap three and the Brendan Everard-trained runner was shuffled back to the rear of the field on the run to the opening corner. In contrast, Luner Lestrange held all the aces up front and, at this point, Lisdaleen Range sat some ten lengths off the pace in sixth place. The complex of the final was to change around the bottom two bends however, and after some traffic, Lisdaleen Range, owned by Gerard Everard and Jack Wilson, shot between runners on the run for home to finish best of all and grab a narrow victory over Luner Lestrange in second. The time was 32.61 .20s.

OTHER RESULTS

Mayas Baby won her debut start in a smart 29.38 .20s around Thurles and Claire McKenna’s bitch built on that performance with a career best last night. Only a June 21’ whelp, the daughter of Droopys Sydney and Myahs Friend came away racing from trap three and immediately shot into a comfortable lead over Double Blow in second. Drawing clear down the back, Mayas Baby wasn’t for catching and she maintained a powerful gallop to score by five lengths, in a rapid 29.15 .20s.

The quickest return over the standard trip last night came in race nine as Great Approach recorded a ninth career victory for the Feel-Good-Racing-Syndicate. A son of Dks Prime Time and Cabra Roxy, Great Approach was only moderately into stride from four but after getting across to the rails early, he nipped up the inside to go second behind Killenaulespirit. This move proved crucial and after stalking the leader thereafter, he delivered a late flourish to come home one and three parts of a length clear of Killenaulespirit in second. The time for the 2/1 shot was a rapid 29.06 .20s.

In the final race of the night, Motown Massie also dipped under the 29-second mark in calculated terms. The 6/4 favourite at the off, the Christy Fitzpatrick-owned bitch broke third from five as Which Exile showed the way from trap one. The latter continued to set the pace approaching the penultimate bend but Motown Massie was building up ahead of steam at this point. From here, the daughter of Skywalker Farloe and Bottle Of Banter, a sister to last night’s Gold Cup winner Bogger Hunter, finished at speed and she proved a class above in crossing the line with three lengths in hand. The time was 29.15 .20s.
