Barry Drake
Bambis Lady, for Breda Doyle and Patrick Sheehy, set the standard in the semi-finals of the TIME Greyhound Nutrition Cork Cup at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.
The classy performer delivered another smashing start to win the early lead and from there, the 9-4 winner was always in control. It was a brave display as she kept finding that bit more upfront and she was forced to dig deep to fend off the challenge of Faypoint Maureen, by three-quarters of a length, in 28.79. A length back to running on Ballyhooly Teejay in third place.
FLYING START
In the second semi-final, Faypoint Susie, who is trained by Graham Holland for Patricia Flanagan, overcame what looked a tricky draw out wide to land the spoils.
The 3-1 shot produced a flying start to slip around in front and in truth, the outcome was never in any doubt. Strong throughout, the 3-1 winner got the better of Labana King, by two lengths, in 28.87. A short head back to the fast-finishing Fifteen Bold in third place.
WINNING RETURN TO RACING
Racing concluded with a fine front-running winning display from Bockos Crystal.
Trained by Graham Holland for Beverley Lochead, the 4-5 favourite, an Irish Greyhound Derby runner-up, broke best to lead and she was always in prime position. A lovely winning return to racing action, proving two and a half lengths too strong for Dellser Bells, in 28.52.
