The final of the Eamon Wheatley Memorial A4/A5 may have been run a week later than scheduled at Newbridge on Friday night but Corona Ryan won’t care a jot as her progressive, early paced youngster Beaming Outlaw emerged a tremendous winner.
Predictably, Airazor was a hot favourite but missed the start from the inside box. This certainly played into the hands of Beaming Outlaw, who had extra room to race into the turn from trap two. Clonfert Kate was fastest into stride and led in the opening yards from five but Beaming Outlaw took charge on the bend.
It was to prove a decisive maneouvre. Airazor did recover well, coming through the pack to take second but the leader had put the result beyond doubt to the third turn. Maintaining a strong gallop to the finish, Beaming Outlaw landed the €3,100 prize by two and a half lengths in a superb 28.82. Airazor was second with Fantasy Penny another two lengths adrift in third.
