It’s an exciting time for those that saw their greyhounds nominated in the various categories for the upcoming National Greyhound Awards.
The nominees were announced publicly on Tuesday evening and it’s no surprise to see the Derby, Oaks, Irish Sprint Cup and Corn Cuchulainn winners all making the short list.
2023 was a wonderful year on the track and the quality of the nominees across each of the seven categories is evidence of the fact. Clonbrien Treaty, Swords Rex and The Other Kobe were perhaps the three obvious nominees for Greyhound of the Year, while Bockos Crystal, Crafty Shivoo and Droopys Mandolin were all stars, earning their nomination for the Bitch of the Year.
It has to be said, while everyone connected to each of the nominees will be hoping to hear their name called out at the awards, each of those nominated are already winners and worthy of their recognition.
The full list of nominees can be seen below. Of course, the Supreme Greyhound of the Year will also be named on the night.
