GRANGEVIEWS DOUBLE UP AT GALWAY

Galway Greyhound Stadium hosted a twelve race card last night and it was the Grangeview greyhounds who sparkled on the night as they posted two flashy times on route to decisive victories.

The fastest of the two kennel companions came in race nine as Grangeview Mags continued her superb form at the Connacht venue with another assured performance. A winner on her last outing in a quite brilliant 28.55, the daughter of Droopys Jet and Blastoff Khalesi,was chasing a third win from her last four starts and installed the even money favourite, she was quickest into stride from trap one to set her stall out early. Taking a narrow advantage around the opener from Lingrawn Junior in second, Grangeview Mags soon opened up a three length lead over her rival and she maintained a scorching gallop thereafter to cross the line three and a half lengths too strong for the gallant Lingrawn Junior in second. The time was 28.92 .20s.

BEST SEALS THE DOUBLE

The double was completed in the very next race as Grangeview Best also led from trap to line to justify her even money favouritism.

Owned by Jamie Hogan, Grangeview Best is in fine form of late and last night she made it four wins from her last seven starts. Out like a light from trap three, the daughter of Ballymac Best and Portumna West quickly held the ascendency as she turned the opener with daylight. Opening a four length lead over Millrose Brandy in second, the result was never in doubt thereafter as Grangeview Best, despite swinging wide off the final turn, still had two and a half lengths in hand over Millrose Brandy crossing the line. The time was a rapid 28.98 .20s.

IN OTHER RACES

Cappaneale Elsie ensured a good start to proceedings at Galway as the March 20’ whelp justified her even money price tag for owner Bill Pardy. Seeking a first career win, the daughter of Sparta Maestro and Killanin Laurel was only moderately into stride from trap five but she showed big early pace to make rapid inroads at the opener. Taking charge off the second turn, it proved a straightforward task thereafter as she maintained a powerful gallop to cross the line with three and a half lengths in hand over Inherowntime in second. The time was 29.32 .20s.

Tromora Ange made it back-to-back wins in race five for David Hogan as the July 20’ puppy pounced late to chin Danmar Daniel on the line. Installed the 6/4 favourite, Tromora Ange was last intro stride from trap three but she showed electric early gears to turn second upon entrance to the back straight. Quickly halving a three length lead at this point, the daughter of Droopys Sydney and Tromora Floss got the narrow vote crossing the line as she proved a head better off than Danmar Daniel in second. The time was 29.42 .20s.

Patrick O’Loughlin sent out Flyaway Home to claim race eleven as she made every yard of the running to seal a seventh career win. A 2/1 market chance, the daughter of Ballymac Eske and Pats Black Lady was quickly into stride wearing the striped jacket and she was never under threat as she tracked expertly to cross the line three and a half lengths clear of Breaghmore Joe in second. The time was 29.35 .20s.

In the concluding race of the night, Eileens Best took her career tally to double figures as she led from the outset for owner Michael Corrigan. Breaking smartly wearing the white jacket, the brindle daughter of Ballymac Best and Eileens Blue showed smashing early pace to turn the opener with a healthy advantage over her rivals. Setting a powerful gallop from that point on, Eileens Best proved a class above the field as she breezed to a three and a half length win over Annadown Mike in second. The time for the 6/4 jolly was a fast 29.21 .20s.
