LYNCHY BOY THE STANDOUT STAR IN ELITE CANINE SEMIS AT CLONMEL

The semi final stages of both the Horse & Hound A3/A4 525 and the Elite Canine Transport A1/A2 550 took centre stage at Clonmel Greyhound Stadium last night and it was Lynchy Boy who stole the show once again with a quality performance for TJ Campion.

After clocking a quickest of the opening round, 30.09, Lynchy Boy was expected to take a bit of beating in the opening semi final of the Elite Canine Transport A1/A2 550 and he proved a tough nut to crack with another trap-to-line victory. Running from a favourable draw in red, the son of Confident Rankin and Boozed Bubble broke smartly from the inside and after maintaining his rails pitch, he took a narrow lead into the back ahead of the improving Sparta Max in second. Little the separate the duo down the back straight, Lynchy Boy upped the ante at the penultimate bend to create daylight over his determined rival in second. Staying on strongly entering the home straight, Lynchy Boy was to secure a brilliant twelfth career win as he crossed the line three lengths clear of Trinity Sydica in second. The time was a fast 29.93 as Sparta Max claimed the final qualifying position in third.

SANTY DELIVERS

In the second semi final, Kilkenny Santy built on his eye-catching second place finish last time out.

Trained by Declan Byrne for Brian Hickey, Kilkenny Santy was noted finishing at speed last time out to overcome a poor start but he had no such problems last night as he took control at an early stage. Only moderately into stride wearing the blue jacket, the son of Kilkenny Desmond and Lemon Isabella appreciated every yard of the long run to the turn as he showed sizzling early gears to tuck in and dispute the lead around the opening turn. Taking control entering the back straight, the strong running heavyweight was never under threat thereafter as he stayed on very strongly to cross the line with two lengths in hand. The time was a fast 30.24 as Burrow Ennis and Riverside Beau took the other two qualifying positions.

CHRIS QUICKEST IN GUYS & DOLLS SEMIS

The semi finals of the Horse & Hound Guys and Dolls A3/A4 525 were also down for decision on last night’s Clonmel card and it was Byrneville Chris who went quickest.

Owned by the Connolly-syndicate, the opening semi final proved a troublesome affair but it was Byrneville Chris who took advantage to run out a distance winner. Going one better than his second place finish last time out, the son of Skywalker Farloe and Byrneville Divas stopped the clock in a slick 28.93.

LYNDA FINISHES BEST

In the second semi final, Heathview Lynda went one better than her performance last week to secure her passage into the next week’s feature.

Owned by Desna Hattemore, Heathview Lynda was only moderately into stride from trap two and she nestled into midfield early on as Tis Inthepost led around the opener. However, despite sitting fourth down the back straight, Heathview Lynda tracked expertly around the penultimate bend to slip up the inside and prove a huge threat to the leader. The winning line now in sight, Heathview Lynda railed like a cat on the run for home and she came out the right side of a photo finish from Tis InthePost in second. The time was 29.22 as Hollyhill Jasmin sealed the final qualifying position in third.
