Reckless Nanny gave Dolores Ruth the perfect return to the training ranks at Shelbourne Park on Friday night when displaying plenty of promise to set the standard in the semi-finals of the Barking Buzz App ON2/ ON3.
Not everything went to plan with the well-bred daughter of Droopys Sydney and Cockyorconfident but she had both the pace and determination to take advantage when she found herself in space. Drawn in five, the sister to Crafty Kokoro broke smartly but failed to clear those on her inner.
Despite taking a bump on the turn, she remained close enough to mount a decisive challenge down the back straight. Mucho Macho Jet displayed fine early zip to lead the field from the corner but he was a sitting duck when Reckless Nanny turned second and slipped onto the fence.
The bright prospect, who is owned by Katie Brodie-Byrne and Kieran Knowles, quickened into the third turn to assert along the fence before easing away to score by six lengths in a useful 28.89. Mucho Macho Jet was second with Kapalua King a further two lengths adrift in third. It was clear the winner has a big engine and seems likely to improve considerably for the experience. Don’t be surprised if she develops into a really top-class performer in the very near future.
PROFESSIONAL DISPLAY FROM SEAN
The opening heat went the way of Ballybough Sean, who produced a fine front running display for Pat Carroll.
The son of Dorotas Wildcat and Jackeen Flyer took an immediate bump from the rails-seeking Laughil Flash but displayed plenty of acceleration to assume control into the bend.
The aforementioned Laughil Flash couldn’t get a run early but did show plenty of pace to emerge as the nearest challenger to Ballybough Sean just before halfway. There was no stopping Ballybough Sean, however. Despite coming back to his rivals a little on the run in, the May ’20 whelp held on to score by three lengths in 29.03. Laughil Flash was second with Topshelf Anne a further three and a half lengths away in third.
