Martin Sweeney was in touch to confirm that one of the great unraced competitions of the year, the Open Bitch Unraced, will return to Newbridge in March.

Once again, the Newbridge Track Supporters Club and Jerry Connors, the owner of Brownstown Tango will co-sponsor the competition that has seen the emergence of some real stars in recent years. 

The likes of Droopys Curio and Unlock Unlock lit up the 2020 competition, while last year’s stake swathe emergence of the brilliant Skywalker Angie, Burgess Cassie, Good Diva and Benalmadena Roxy. Of course, the eagle-eyed observers will also notice that a certain Susie Sapphire finished last in her opening round assignment before going on to capture the Puppy Oaks, Oaks and Derby titles.

It may be too much to expect another Derby winner to emerge from the competition but you never know. No doubt there will be plenty of focus on the valuable competition.
