Barry Drake

SHUNTERS BOBBY went quickest on the clock in the semi-finals of the Geneva Kennels & W.T.S.C ON3 Unraced Stake at Waterford on Saturday night.

Owned by Richard Kearns, the son of Droopys Cain and Cloncunny Winner showed a lovely touch of early pace, easily winning the all-important early. Soon three clear, that lead was down to one at third corner as Belmullet Brandy was coming with a big run. However, the leader found more in front, and he pulled away to win by a length and a half, in 29.05. Belmullet Brandy was seven lengths clear of the third-place finisher which was Coolbunnia Tess.

OPENING SEMI FINAL

The opening semi-final went the way of the front-running Daring Coco.

Trained by Michael Meade for owners Stephanie Maguire and Peter Woods, the October puppy had enough early pace to slip around in front from the trap five draw. In truth, the outcome never looked in any doubt as the daughter of Ballymac Best and Libbys Pet kept on well to beat Monamolin Ruby, by three and a half lengths, in 29.42. A length back to Kelesboro Syd in third place.

POWERFUL RUNNING STICKMAN ON TOP

The €600 final of the Irish Retired Greyhound Trust A3 stake went the way of Stickman.

Owned by Susan James, the son of Laughil Blake and Fourpenny Pearl was making it back-to-back wins in the event. A powerful running dog, he broke fourth, but showed a great injection of pace to move second heading around the opening turns. Upfront, Swithins Tiger had moved five clear but you always felt it was going to get very close. Running on strongly, Stickman was in front right before the line as he got the better of Swithins Tiger by a neck, in 31.58. Three lengths back to Elusive Clara in third place. (575).
