Kilkenny track released a statement yesterday afternoon confirming the continued sponsorship of the McCalmont Cup by the Dunne Family of Frightful Flash Kennels fame.
The statement reads:
“Kilkenny Track is delighted to announce that The Dunne Family in Portlaoise (Frightful Flash Kennels) have once again come on board to sponsor this year’s McCalmont Cup. The Dunne family have a long association of sponsorship in Kilkenny Track and their continued support is very much appreciated by all.
The Frightful Flash Kennels McCalmont Cup is an A1 / A2 525 event for 48 greyhounds (B’graders allowed) @ €30. There’s a total prize fund of €13,000 and this year’s winner will collect a very decent €5,000 1st prize. 1st Round heats are due to get underway on Friday March 3rd.”
It’s great news for all involved in Kilkenny and wonderful to see the McCalmont Cup maintaining an important place on their calendar. No doubt this year’s competition will attract some talented young trackers with a number going on to establish themselves as established open race performers.
