The A2/A3 Dublin Cup was always going to see the emergence of some very useful trackers and, as expected, many of those competitors will be saying goodbye to A2 company in the near future after some superb displays in Friday’s second round.
All four heats were won in fine style, although honour of going fastest went to Bryan and Kathleen Murphy’s Priceless Cathal as he again stormed home for an impressive success in Heat 3. Hes Made It set a strong gallop from trap five but was always under pressure once Priceless Cathal forced his way into second spot on the corner.
Once turning as close, the Paul Hennessy trained son of Belles Direction and Priceless Dancer was always too close. Moving past his rival around the last two bends, he stormed clear to claim a third career victory by an ever-widening five lengths in 28.65.
NOTHING FOGGY ABOUT BOTTOM
Foggy Bottom was always in complete command for Laurence Jones in the opening heat.
The son of Ballymac Best and Corduff Flame, who boasts good sprint form around Dundalk, hit the front at trap rise and cleared fellow slick starter Daring Bowie into the turn.
Once doing so, it was all one-way traffic. Easing clear to the third turn, Foggy Bottom ran out a ready four length scorer over Walk On Gaffer in a fast 28.69.
STAGE REMAINS UNBEATEN
Highview Stage brought his career tally to four wins from four starts in Heat 3, proving too strong for the long-time leader Stratosphere.
Owned by Owen Sweetman and Anthony Rooney, Highview Stage is developing into a very talented tracker.
Although not the fastest into stride, the well-built son of Ballymac Anton and Highview Daisy ran a tremendous corner to move second by the second bend. Stratosphere set the pace to the third turn but Highview Stage was biding him time.
Moving wide of his rival at the final turn, Highview Stage moved upsides and straight past the leader to run out a good three length winner in 28.79. Stratopshere held on for second by a short head from the advancing Noirs Best.
ALL PROFIT ALL DOMINANT
An early advantage was also decisive in the second heat with Ryan Byrne’s All Profit dominating from the early yards.
The son of Laughil Blake and Miss Profit was always in charge after a fast start and went on to contain the staying on Costa Candy by five lengths in 28.83.
