TOMMY TOO GOOD FOR RIVALS IN O’CONNOR JULIAN VETS TRI-DISTANCE SEMIS

The feature races on last night’s Limerick card were the two semi finals of the O’Connor Julian Vets Cashel A2 Tri-Distance and Tommy Too Many made it back-to-back wins over the extended 575-yard to gallop into the decider with strong claims.

Owned by the Moydrum-Massive-Syndicate, Tommy Too Many didn’t have things his own way in the opening round but came through well to score over the 550-yard trip. The extra 25-yards this time around was expected to serve him well early on and he duly obliged to justify his even money price tag at the off. From a pretty level break with four greyhounds in a line, Tommy Too Many displayed those customary early gears to swoop around the outside and take a four length lead into the back from Foxys Bobby in second. The son of Dorotas Woo Hoo and Ballintee Babe extended that advantage at the halfway mark as he really devoured the Limerick back straight to take a commanding lead into the closing stages of the event. Staying on well thereafter, Tommy Too Many had five and a half lengths in hand over Foxys Bobby in second, with Sugan Snowey claiming the final qualifying position in third. The time was a very slick 31.35.

BACK-TO-BACK FOR FERAGE

In the opening semi final, it was Tyrap Ferage who also built on his opening round victory with another powerful performance for owner David Carroll.

A real Limerick specialist, the extra yardage was expected to play right into the hands of Tyrap Ferage and many saw this as the case given his starting odds of even money. Running from trap one, Tyrap Ferage broke best of all and he was already on his way to notching a dozen career victories for connections. Disputing the lead with Ballymartin Rory early on, the favourite got the better of his rivals and he quickly developed a three length lead down the back and was now in full flow. The son of Droopys Cain and Varra Bawn was to strengthen his position around the bottom two turns and he was three and a half lengths better off than the staying on, Gortkelly Mona, in second place. The final qualifying position was claimed by Ballymartin Rory in third as the time returned a fast 31.45.

MEDUZA BACK WITH A BANG

Elsewhere on the card, there was one real performance of note and that came in the concluding race of the night as Meduza returned to winning ways for John Byrne and joint owners, John Meelam and Sean Ryan.

Having her first start of the year after being off since Christmas, the classy Meduza was expected to take some beating in a race which was a nice reintroduction back to the circuit. Running from trap two, the even money favourite disputed early on with Moonlight Macy but Meduza outpaced her rival down the back to take control entering the penultimate turn. From here, it was to prove a formality for the daughter of Good News and Jaytee Osprey as she galloped to a comfortable six length success. The time was a smart 28.76.
