VINCENT LEAVY

It’s with a heavy heart we must report the sudden passing of the most dedicated doggy men in the country, Vincent Leavy.

Responsible for the ‘Alamo’ prefix from his Longwood base, Vincent was a talented handler who provided so many winners through the years.

A regular at Mullingar, he had most of his success at the Midlands venue but he was far more than just an owner/ trainer. He was also actively involved in the Mullingar GOBA and Newbridge Track Supporters Club and was always quick to put up his hand when a volunteer was needed for anything.

Vincent was PRO of the Mullingar GOBA and was the driving force behind the launch of the pilot Track Injury Scheme at Mullingar in June of this year.

A gentleman, he was extremely generous with his time and was always first in line to help out with charity work and fundraising events. The best of company, he will be sadly missed by his many friends at the track.

We would like to take this opportunity to send on our sincerest condolences to his family and many friends.

The death has occurred of Vincent Leavy, Longwood Road, Enfield, Meath / Killucan, Westmeath.

Vincent Leavy, Longwood Road, Enfield, Co. Meath, July 27th (peacefully) at the Mater Hospital in his 71st year, surrounded by his family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ita and Stepfather Andy. Sadly missed by all his family and friends.

Reposing at Ennis's Funeral Home, Killucan, Thursday, 28th July, 4pm to 6pm. Funeral Mass on Friday at 11am in St Joseph's Church, Rathwire, followed by burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.
