HUGE CROWD ENJOY RACING IN YOUGHAL AS SUMMER SEASON PROVES VERY POPULAR AS ALWAYS

A huge crowd turned up in Youghal last night as the free admission summer season proves very popular among locals and holiday makers.

The free face painting, sponsored by the Youghal Track Supporters Club, was another big hit on the night. Pictured below.

SOME OF THE STANDOUT PERFORMANCES
On the track, there were a number of real smart performances.

The quickest run of the night came in the closing race as Zoo Luru beat a strong field of runners in the A1/A2 contest. The 6-4 joint favourite showed massive all round speed to land the spoils, hitting the front before the opening corner, the July youngster galloping strongly to the line, clocking 28.96 and proving four lengths too strong for Kerryroad Peg.
In the previous race, litter brother Zoos Puma ran out an impressive winner. Owned by the Zoo Members Syndicate, the well backed even-money winner delivered a fine 29.29 winning performance.

Witches France recorded a 21st victory on the night. A 9-2 shot in the betting market, the brilliant performer tracked beautifully around the opening corners and once hitting the front between the final bends, it was game over. So strong on the home straight, he beat Waikiki Slim, by two and a half lengths, in 28.98, making it a double for the Witches team.
It was all about Witches Venus in the third, an A3 contest. Showing plenty of early zip, the 7-2 shot stuck to her task well in the closing stages to land the spoils, in 29.13, two lengths clear of Seaview Dazzler.

Marlfield Dougal got a great cheer from the big crowd after winning the seventh of the night for local trainer Jake Faul. Owned by Sean Faul, Youghal, the 5-1 shot was in the mix throughout, but he found that bit extra in the closing stages. A 29.05 winning run, two and a half lengths clear of Watch Out Val.

Slaneyside Vardy overcame a wide draw to win the tenth, an A2, for the Thurles kennels of Derek Kehoe. The 11-2 shot found his trapping boots to lead around the opening turns and the outcome was never in any doubt as he won with plenty to spare, in 29.10. (A2).
Knockglass Wild landed a few decent bets when winning race eight, an A5, for Martin Murphy, Ladysbridge. Supported into 6-4 on track, the August puppy drove a fantastic opening corner and he powered to an impressive victory, clocking 29.20.
