It was revealed in recent days that the hugely exciting Ballymac Nunez, who posted a rapid 28.14 at Shelbourne Park last time out, has been sold and is to join Paul Hennessy.
John Turner stepped into buy the exciting son of Ballymac Cashout and Ballymac Minton and he is to be renamed Jaytee Craze.
Turner will be partnered by his friend Lee Craze, hence the new name for the powerful galloper. Said Hennessy of the young tracker, “He’s got really nice potential. It was hard not to be impressed by him. It’s new blood in the kennel and we look forward to seeing just how far he can go.”
BOB LOOKS A SERIOUS PROSPECT
It’s not the only new blood to enter Hennessy’s Black and Amber outfit in recent weeks.
Of course, he recently got his hands on Boylesports Bob, who was formerly Forest Paddy. He clocked a sensational 28.04 in his latest outing at Shelbourne Park and looks a rare prospect.
One suspects Hennessy isn’t surprised while he is also delighted that Ned Murphy has retained a half share in the dog. Said Paul, “I loved what I saw in the opening round of the Unraced at Kilkenny. He was fourth but I honestly thought he was one of the fastest dogs in the stake. Ned was keen to keep his half share so he and John [Boyle] now jointly own him.
“I’ve known Ned for years, going to Enniscorthy, and he’s a gent. He and John have a really nice dog and let’s hope he can live up to the promise he’s already shown.”
FIRE AND ETIENNE ARE EXCITING
Paul also confirmed he has a few nice unraced dogs about him including Barefoot On Fire.
“We bought him off John Kennedy. He did 18.60 odd (18.67) at Shelbourne Park in his first official spin and looks very exciting.”
Not content with buying some exciting prospects, they’re also breeding a few very nice types. One that looks particularly promising is Hello Etienne. He is to be renamed Jaytee Etienne and was named after the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne. One can’t help feel that Kevin Hennessy, a long-suffering Jacksonville fan, named that one.
The son of Jaytee Taylor and former Lee Strand winner Cornerhouse Lady recently beat the top class Boylesports Vic in a sprint trial at Kilkenny, posting a quick 16.38.
