BONNIE AMY A NAME TO REMEMBER

Bonnie Amy went fast at Enniscorthy on Monday evening to confirm her superb opening round display was no fluke in the June open Unraced Stake.

Indeed, it’s pretty clear from her latest victory that the daughter of Whitewood Lad and Indian Prayer could have a very big future.

Laura Earl and Pat Whelan’s November ’22 whelp was the 6-4 second favourite but she shot from traps and was always in command. Odds-on favourite Glengar Archer edged inwards from the outside box into the bend and found traffic before checking his stride into the back straight.

While all this was happening, Bonnie Amy was setting a strong gallop from trap four. In charge from the opening strides, Bonnie Amy went on to beat Totilas by four lengths in a brilliant 28.74. Fairly Cushie was best of the remainder, eight lengths further adrift in third.

TENYEARS IMPRESSES

Tenyearshutterin also won in fine style.

As with Bonnie Amy, the son of Vic Vega and Ontheredcarpet was racing rom trap four and he was sharper than his rivals. Holding a narrow advantage over Whitewood Cash into the turn, he moved on by the time they entered the back straight.

Mystical Sydney moved second into the third turn and closed to the line but there was no stopping Tenyearshutterin. Representing owners Declan Beary and Orlaigh McCarthy, Tenyearshutterin went on to emerge an impressive two length winner over Mystical Sydney in 28.91. Whitewood Cash would finish five lengths further back in third.
