HOUDINI ROCKS just got the verdict in the feature in Waterford on Saturday night, the 4-6 favourite landed the €1,500 to the winner Kilcohan Park A2/A3 Stake Final by the shortest of margins in an outstanding contest.
Owned and trained by John Mullally, the in-form son of Ballymac Best and Posh Panther was making it three wins on the trot. After missing the kick, the short-priced favourite drove a lovely opening corner to turn third but he still had plenty to do as Blackhill Jack was going along nicely up front.
Six lengths back at halfway, the classy winner was making his move heading down into the second last corner and he pulled out all the stops to get up close home. A wonderful performance after a poor start to win, getting the better of the longtime leader, by a short head, in 28.86.
In the following race, Chloes Jet ran out a wide margin winner of the €900 to the winner Waterford Track Supporters Club A4 Stake. Owned and trained by Alan Weldon, the 5-4 favourite kicked clear on the back straight and the July youngster won with plenty to spare. A career-best performance, winning in a fine, 28.76.
