Bull Run Best may have gone to traps a 14-1 chance in her semi final of the Mary Ramsbottom Memorial Unraced at Kilkenny on Friday night but Jim Quinlan’s daughter of Ballymac Best and Calzaghe Jan managed to set the standard, avoiding traffic on her inner at the bend to sweep to the front on the corner.

Once going to the front, the August ’20 whelp was never under threat. Coolanga Rebel id stay on well in defeat and got to within three parts of a length but there was no stopping Bull Run Best, who stopped the clock in 29.37.

In contrast to the opening heat, the second semi final went the way most were expecting with Capitan Garfio returning triumphant at odds of 2-5.

Ken Busteed’s very well-bred son of Droopys Sydney and Ballymac Petsy led early and proceeded to score by three and a half lengths from Avongate Gucci in 29.40.
