Capitan Garfio came into the final of the Mary Ramsbottom Memorial ON2 boasting a record of three wins from three outings and he duly made it four on Friday, producing a career best effort as he justified his billing as the even money favourite.

Ken Busteed’s charge was simply paw perfect. Making a flying start from trap two, he quickly assumed control. The son of Droopy Sydney and Ballymac Petsy held Avongate Gucci into the corner to turn in front and he was never threatened thereafter.

Dun Loich turned second and tried as best he could to bridge the gap but there was no stopping Capitan Garfio who emerged an impressive two length winner in a fastest of the night 29.00. the winner is clearly going forward and, given his impeccable pedigree, there is no guessing where the progression will end. He is one to keep an eye on in the future.
