A year after winning the 2023 renewal, hall of fame handler Francie Murray recorded a superb double as the Paddy & Eamon Carroll Memorial A3/A4 got underway at Dundalk on Saturday evening.
The Midlands handler, successful with Princes Street in 2023, sent out Rolo Pistachio (28.93) and Rolo Bucks (28.63) to win their respective heats of a competition which carries a wonderful winner’s purse of €2,600. Both greyhounds are owned by Sally Johnson and John Scofield.
Fastest opening round winner was Brian Robinson’s Up The Game. The Coalisland dog posted a rapid 28.53 as he dominated in Heat 7. The other heat winners were Monleek Atlanta (28.69), Armagh Daithi (28.71), Wanofthemwans (28.92), Arrigle Beauty (29.14) and Avon Jack (29.27).
The quarter-finals will switch to Friday this week due to Saturday’s card being a benefit meeting. There are some superb contests in the next round but Heat 3 looks particularly hot with the line-up including no fewer than four opening round scorers, Wanofthemwans, Up The Game, Rolo Bucks and Armagh Daithi.
