A VERY SUCCESFUL FUNDRAISER AT CURRAHEEN PARK FOR KATIE O'KEEFFE

Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium hosted a fundraiser in aid of a very special little girl, Katie O’Keeffe, on Saturday night, where a massive crowd turned out to support this very worthy cause.

Katie and her family moved home to Ireland from Australia last year to be closer to family and within months were dealt a blow as Katie was diagnosed with a rare illness with limited treatment options available to them here in Ireland.

All at Curraheen Park played a huge part in supporting Katie and her family. A huge thanks must go to all that supported.

On the track, it was the old stager Churchtown Syd, who stole the show when winning the feature, the  Katie O’Keeffe Appreciation Buster Race, which carried a winning prize of €1,000.

Turned over in last week's semi-final, the powerful performer made no mistakes this time around when winning for trainer Denis Fitzgerald and owner Michael Crotty. Such a great servant for connections, the 4-5 favourite hit the front early and from there, he was always in control. An outstanding performance, clocking 30.12 and coming home with two and a half lengths to spare over Pilot Scheme.
