In a change to their regular racing schedule, Thurles raced on Thursday night as opposed to Saturday and there one performance of particular note as Miss Mini Holly posted the fastest time for the 570-yard trip in over six years.
Owned and trained by Thomas O’Donovan, Miss Mini Holly was running in the concluding A1 570-yard event last night and went off as the 6/4 favourite to get back to winning ways. Rocketing from trap four to post a rapid 4.25 sectional, the blue daughter of Broadstrand Bono and Miss Mini Marvel quickly manufactured daylight on the long run-up and progressed into a three length lead rounding the opener. Trouble in behind saw O’Donovan’s tracker open an unassailable lead down the back and she upped the ante around the bottom two bends to post a 17.45 sectional. Staying on stoutly thereafter, ‘Holly’ powered up the home straight as she handed a six and a half-length defeat to nearest rival, Black Shine, in second. The time was a blistering 31.13, which is just over two lengths outside of the track record held by Donation since April 2018.
To put this performance into perspective, only greats such as Ronans Delight (30.98) and Charity Jack (31.10) have went faster alongside Donation (on the clock), so this was a serious effort from Miss Mini Holly and we look forward to seeing her next appearance on track.
