JACK AND GIDDY ON TOP AT ENNISCORTHY

Blackhall Jack and Fairly Giddy took the headlines in the semi-finals of the Elite Black at Stud May Unraced at Enniscorthy on Monday night. Both got off the front early but it was the latter that went fastest with a 29.19 return.

 

GIDDY UP

Fairly Giddy was actually headed at traps by the fast-starting Mikes Bono but he charged into the turn to take charge. Margaret Stafford’s daughter of Cushie Jet and Sweet Itch cut the corner to move on and it was all straightforward thereafter.

Ashwood News improved to go third into the back straight and he stayed on well to grab second in the closing yards but Fairly Giddy was too good on the night. Fairly Giddy went on to score by four lengths in 29.19. Ashwood News had three parts of a length in hand on Mikes Bono in second.

 

JACK GETS LOOSE EARLY

Ballinabola Jake was a hot favourite to win the opening heat but he failed to worry Blackhall Jack, who got loose in the early yards. Trained by Anton Butler for Shane Duggan, the son of Burgess Bucks and Black Moll looked comfortable down the back straight but he had to dig deep in the latter stages.

Mini Skinny broke smartly but wasn’t able to contain Blackhall Jack into the turn. The pair raced first and second throughout. Ballinabola Jake checked slightly on the second turn when third but he never really got going down the back straight. He would stay on well but it was too late.

Blackhall Jack was pressed hard on the run in but held off Mini Skinny by a short head in 29.30. Ballinabola Jake was three parts of a length adrift in third.
