With the Corn Cuchulainn set to conclude at Shelbourne Park tomorrow evening, the stayers would often have limited options through the remainder of the year but that is about to change with a new major staying event added to the calendar.
The Kerry Greyhound Owners & Breeders Association yesterday announced two new competitions to the roster including the MCP Group Open 750. With a winner’s purse of €7,500 on offer, it will become the third richest prize on offer for six bend greyhounds after the Corn Cuchulainn and the Winter Racing Festival 750.
It really is a welcome addition to the calendar and will surely be well-supported. This year’s renewal gets underway on July 27th with the final set or August 10th. The competition is open to 24 greyhounds at €40 and it would be wonderful to see it filling.
VALUABLE GUYS AND DOLLS
The second competition to be announced by the KGOBA is the William “Potters” Herlihy Guys & Dolls Memorial A3 525 worth a mighty impressive €4,000. Kindly sponsored by the Herlihy Family in Knocknagoshel, it too is open to 24 greyhounds and will commence on Saturday, July 13th with the final scheduled for August 3rd.
