BARTLEMY JAS A POPULAR WINNER OF THE CORK CUP FINAL

Barry Drake

LOCAL Cork trainer Kieran Lynch enjoyed more big-race success at Curraheen Park on Saturday night as Bartlemy Jas came home in front to win the €4,500 Cork Cup.

Owned by Liam Mannix, the 5-1 shot broke well and once he led before the opening turn, it was always going to take something special to reel him. Ballyboy Deme moved off the opening corner which did no favours to Toolmaker Zippy and Triangle Ricardo.

Upfront, it was all about Bartlemy Jas. Eight lengths clear at halfway, the winner was powering down the back straight. Witches Sydney got the better of Ballyboy Deme for second place and the strong running lady did finish with a flourish to get within four lengths of the winner. However, it was all about Bartlemy Jas and it was a special night for all connected with the dog. A 28.74 winning performance.

IMPRESSIVE WINNER

Clona Skye, trained by Graham Holland for owner Kevin O'Brien, made no mistake from the rails pitch when winning race 11 at odds of 4-5.

Just making the corner in front from Cielo, the early paced winner then moved three clear to the second last corner. Illnotbeback put on a superb finish, staying on powerfully, she got within a length and a half of the most impressive winner. A 28.55 winning performance.
