BELLA AND BOBSLEIGH SHINE IN CESAREWITCH

BELLA AND BOBSLEIGH SHINE IN CESAREWITCH

Ian Fortune

Both Bobsleigh Dream and Magical Mary will be chasing further classic glory in the final of the RPGTV Irish Cesarewitch next weekend after finishing first and second in the red-hot second heat yesterday afternoon at Mullingar.

Honours went to Leger champion Bobsleigh Dream as she flashed from traps to dominate but Magical Mary also ran a huge race in second, while Jacktavern Bella was a hugely impressive winner of the other heat.

DREAM DISPLAY FROM BOBSLEIGH

Bobsleigh Dream is a nominee for 2022 Bitch of the Year and all signs would suggest she is as good as ever.

The Pat Buckley trained star was the second choice in the betting ahead of the second heat but it was immediately obvious she was going o take the world of beating.

Flying from trap two, she was in charge from the early yards. Her task was made somewhat easier with Cornetto walking from the inside box, while Magical Mary took a step right from trap three, taking a bump in the process.

It allowed Bobsleigh Dream to turn with a couple of lengths in hand on Magical Mary. The pair raced right away from the chasing pack with Bobsleigh Dream always holding the upper hand. Magical Mary did show loads of pace to close the gap into the third turn and she attempted to come at the p[ace-setter up the straight but Bobsleigh Dream is exceptionally strong.

Predictably, Willie Murphy’s Bobsleigh Dream stayed on stoutly to contain the best efforts of her rival for a length victory in a very fast 33.04. Faypoint David was the third qualifier some twelve lengths further back.

BRILLIANT BELLA FINISHES AT SPEED

Jacktavern Bella was and remains amongst the best stayers in Ireland but she has certainly developed into much more this year.

This was certainly evident in the opening heat as she stormed home for a brilliant victory.

Peach Tree East went up fastest to lead the field into the turn but he was under immediate pressure with the strapping Killahan Sydney turning a close second. Importantly, Jacktavern Bella slipped around in third.

Killahan Sydney took charge as they entered the back straight and looked a very likely scorer but Jacktavern Bella meant business. Moving second on the third turn, she readied herself for a big challenge on the run in.

Trained by Graham Holland for the Pillar Syndicate, the daughter of Droopys Sydney and Lemon Ariana flew up the home straight to pick up Killahan Sydney for a length verdict in a quick 33.19. Peach Tree East will join the front two in the decider after finishing a further three lengths adrift in third.
