BRILLIANT DEBUT FROM FUTURE STAR IVY HILL JAGUAR

Galway was another track to reschedule their Friday meeting to last night and there was a really notable display from debutant, Ivy Hill Jaguar.

Owned by Noel Hehir, who is no stranger to producing the odd superstar or two, Ivy Hill Jaguar is only a September 21’ whelp and he stepped out in his ON2/3 contest last night to win in the most impressive fashion. The strapping son of Droopys Sydney and Affane Beauty came into the event with modest qualifying efforts but whispers had clearly spread as he went to traps as the 4/5 favourite to make a winning start to racing life. Running from trap two, Ivy Hill Jaguar broke level but immediately displayed his early gears to pull clear on the run to the opening bend. Quickly developing a five length lead within a matter of strides, that lead soon doubled by the time Ivy Hill Jaguar had reached the penultimate turn. Clearly setting a tremendous gallop, you would have needed a pair of binoculars to find his rivals at this point and the talented youngster powered up the straight to win by a facile twelve lengths over Da Ultimate in second. The time was an exceptional 28.78 .10s, a star of the future.

LITTER DOUBLE FOR THE BUMBLEBEES

Elsewhere on the card, there was a nice litter double for Paddy and Paul Burke as Bumblebee Lottie and Bumblebee Marian both landed their respective contests.

Both offspring of Good News and Bumblebee Queen, Bumblebee Marian got the ball rolling in race four, an A8 525. Running from trap two, the August 21’ whelp was sent off the 5/4 favourite and she was handy throughout despite Derra Bear setting the standard for the majority of the contest. Tracking the leader all the way, Bumblebee Marian showed the superior stamina late on to storm up the inside and run out a one and a half length winner. The time was 29.61 .10s.

The double was completed in the very next race as Bumblebee Lottie won her A6 525 in easy fashion. A 5/2 shot at the off, Bumblebee Lottie broke well from trap four and immediately shot wide to take a clear advantage into the opener. Already in possession of a seven length lead down the back, this proved a straightforward night’s work for the reserve as she crossed the line with six and a half lengths to spare over Astro Sally in second. The time was 29.42 .10s.
