PHYLLIS MCKENNA

It’s with sadness we must report the passing of a member of the first family of Irish greyhound racing, Phyllis McKenna.

Pyhllis was wife to former Irish Greyhound Board member and Shelbourne Park chairman, Tony McKenna and a sister in-law to the late great Ger McKenna. Of course, she was also an aunt to dual Derby winning trainer Owen McKenna.

We would like to pass on our sincerest condolences to her husband Tony, her daughter Deirdre and sons Malachy and Tony, her beloved grandchildren, Marky, Rebekah, Mally, Ava and Ewan and Sadhbh, her daughters in law Sarah-Lyn and Ann, her brothers, sisters, extended family and many friends.

The death has occurred of Phyllis McKenna, née Kennedy, Ballyhaden, Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Lisnagower, Co. Tipperary, 10th March, 2023. Peacefully at University Hospital, Limerick. Dearly missed by her loving husband, Tony, heartbroken daughter, Deirdre and sons Malachy and Tony: adored grandchildren, Marky, Rebekah, Mally, Ava and Ewan and Sadhbh: daughters in law Sarah-Lyn and Ann and all her brothers and sisters both home and abroad.

Reposing this Sunday evening at Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Main Street, Borrisokane 4pm to 7pm. Removal on Monday morning from her residence, Ballyhaden to SS Peter & Paul's Church, Borrisokane arriving at 11.15am for funeral mass at 11.30am. Burial afterwards in the Pike Cemetery, Ballingarry.
